Garden
The garden is looking great, pictures to come. Because of the usual delays we are not able to open until april. It is going to be absolutely beautiful when we are finished. Plus we may even have a garden party in march weather permitting.

We’ve been thinking a lot about the menu changes we’ll be making when we have the indoor seating area and bar. Recently we purchased an induction burner which allows us to do a lot more saute work really fast. Some of the new dishes we’ve been trying out have gotten a great reception at the cart. We’ll also be bringing back our Confit Chicken Wings in a honey lemongrass glaze. Here’s some of our new menu items we’ve been working on:
Togarashi Beef Tenderloin Skewers with Miso Butter Asparagus
Chili Garlic Prawns on a Bed of Pan Fried Noodles
Spicy Pork and Hominy Korean Style Stew
Pan Fried Noodles with Miso Butter and Asparagus
Seasonal vegetables sauteed with miso butter and tarragon
and we’re also going to be doing some bar snacks like kimchi quesadillas & a variety of homemade pickle plates. Come by the cart in the coming weeks to try out these specials
We repainted the kitchen and tiled it, put in our nice 3 compartment sink and cleaned some weird blood off the wall. Found some really creepy drawings and none of us could be sure if they were drawn by a child or an adult. Pictures of those coming soon!
The renovations are going great. The plumbing is almost finished and the customer bathroom is now ADA accessible. Tonight we tiled the kitchen with some really nice gray slate tile.
Ross Vs. the Giant Garbage Pile! It felt so great to get all that stuff out of the house. Way less creepy in there!
This weekend we tackled the basement, dismantling some shelving, scraping all the laminate off the floor and cleaning up the solid mold and bones. Haven’t cleared all the four loko cans out of the fireplace yet but there’s only so much grossness you can deal with in one day. Another great discovery was a clumsily erotic zine written by the previous tenant. The style was a little bit like Johnathan Safran Foer meets somebody with no talent. Now that it’s totally cleaned out we’ll be putting in some trusty ikea flooring to brighten up the place
In the garage behind the cart we found what might be described as a homeless person’s loft/studio apartment. They had wedged some plywood in the rafter to make a flat space and had a complete double burner kitchen set up. It looked like someone had been living up there for awhile. They even had a copy of diana kennedy’s authentic mexican cooking! We only discovered it when we went to clear all the boards out of the rafters and when we pulled the first one down a cascade of pillows, bottles sheets and an inflatable armrest fell upon us.
We couldn’t pick just one so we thought we’d compile a list:
Some before pictures of the house. Today we did some demolition in the front room. Knocked down the Jackson Pollock wall and completely stripped the kitchen of its cabinets and various rotting foods! There is still a ton of cosmetic work to be done but we’re making headway and hope to be open by August 15th
